About Discount Pit

We publish discount codes we have actually used. Here is exactly how that works.

Last updated

The promise: if a code is on this site, someone applied it at a real checkout and watched the total drop. If it failed, it never reached the page.

Why we built this

Most coupon sites publish everything they can find and let you sort out what works. You paste six dead codes, get "this code is not valid" six times, and give up. We started Discount Pit to do the boring part for you: try the code first, publish only what worked, and say plainly when we last checked.

How we test a code

  • We find it. Codes come from merchant newsletters, store pages, partner feeds and reader submissions.
  • We apply it at a real checkout. Not a validator, not a guess: a real basket on the store's own site, with the code entered in the discount field.
  • We watch the total. If the discount does not apply, the code does not go live.
  • We stamp the date. Every code shows when we last verified it, so you can judge how fresh it is instead of trusting a vague "today" badge.
  • We retest. Codes get rechecked, and anything you report as dead goes back in the queue.

What we will never do

  • Invent numbers. No made-up savings figures, no invented "people used this today" counters, no fake star ratings. If we cannot source a number, we leave it out.
  • Publish an untested code to fill a page. A store with one working code gets one code.
  • Let commission decide the content. See the affiliate disclosure.

Where the rest of the page comes from

Product names, images and prices are read from the store's own live catalogue, so they match what you will see when you click through. Shipping and returns information is taken from the store's own policy pages and linked back to them, so you can check it yourself. Where a store has not published something, we leave the section out rather than guess.

When we get it wrong

We will. A code will expire an hour after we test it, or a store will quietly add an exclusion. When that happens, tell us and we will retest and correct the page. We would rather be told than leave a dead code up.

Copy the code, then paste it in the discount code field at checkout.
